The Myrtle Beach High Orchestra currently has over one hundred members enrolled from grades 9 - 12. The orchestra performs numerous concerts throughout the year and also plays for community events and conferences of organizations visiting the Grand Strand area. Each year the MBHS Orchestra participates in the South Carolina Music Educators Orchestra Concert Festival and has consistently received Superior ratings for ten consecutive years. In addition, the group has performed in Atlanta, Disney World, and New York City. Many students from the MBHS Orchestra are awarded seats in the All County, Low Country Region and All State Orchestras. Invitation to perform in these groups includes a rigorous audition process.

Orchestra students will participate in the following events during the 2009-10 school year: 

• October 10: Low Country Region Auditions, James Island Charter School
• November 3: MBMS/MBHS Orchestra Fall Concert, MBHS Musics and Arts Center,  7:00 p.m.
• November 14: All County Orchestra Auditions, Whittemore Park Middle School
• November 20-21: Low Country Region Orchestra Weekend, Summerville High School
• December 15: MBMS/MBHS Orchestra Holiday Concert, MBHS Music and Arts Center, 7:00 p.m.
• January 9: All State Orchestra Auditions, Columbia
• January 21-22: All County Orchestra Clinic, MBHS Music and Arts Center --
  Concert on January 22 at 5:45 p.m.
• February 26-28: SC All State Orchestra Clinic, Furman University 
• March 16: Music in Our Schools Celebration Concert, MBMS/MBHS Orchestra,
  MBHS Music and Arts Center, 7:00 p.m.
• March 25: SCMEA Orchestra Concert Festival, MBHS Music and Arts Center
• May 1: Solo and Ensemble Festival, MBMS
• May 4: MBMS/MBHS Orchestra Spring Concert and Awards Night, Dessert Social, MBHS Music and Arts Center, 6:00 p.m.
• May 27-31: New York City trip.
