Science

The mission of the MBHS Science Department is to develop students who are scientifically literate and globally aware. Scientific reasoning, problem solving, laboratory activities and experimentation are essential components of every course. In order to graduate from Horry County Schools, a student must take a minimum of three science classes (Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry), although we strongly recommend that every student take a science course each year.  College-bound students must take a fourth course which has a prerequisite of Biology and/or Chemistry. The nine highly qualified members of the Science Department are working together this year to develop common assessments for all subjects and to increase the use of guided inquiry in our classrooms.  Each science teacher is available for tutoring if a student needs extra help.  Contact information and tutoring day and time can be found on the individual teacher’s page.
